Up breathing, also known as hypnobirthing breathing, is a breathing technique used during active labor.
Inhale through your nose for 4 counts to fill your chest/lungs with oxygen, slowly exhale through the mouth for a count of 8 as you soften and relax the body. Repeat 4 times, lasting about 48 seconds total. Repeat during each contraction. Early labor contractions can last about 15-20 seconds, whereas in established labor contractions last about 45-60 seconds.
