This is a rhythmic, equal breathing technique designed to synchronize your breathing rhythm with your heart rate variability (HRV) to create physiological balance. With this practice, you'll take 6 breaths per minute

  1. Inhale through the nose and into the belly for 5 seconds.
  2. Exhale through the nose for 5 seconds.
  3. Continue for ~10 minutes, keeping the breath smooth and continuous.

Alternatively, you can practice 5 breaths per minute, with 6 second inhales and exhales.

Also known as Resonant Breathing, this technique was developed from modern stress-reduction practices and focuses on smooth, even breathing at around 5-6 breaths per minute, promoting cardiovascular and nervous system harmony. By slowing and lengthening both inhales and exhales, you create cardiorespiratory coherence by regulating/boosting heart rate variability (HRV), activate the parasympathetic nervous system, and stabilize blood pressure.
