The Six Healing Sounds of Qigong are a traditional practice in Chinese medicine that use specific vocal tones to restore harmony in the body. Each sound is linked to an organ system, an associated emotion, and a healing energy.

By combining breath, sound, and intention, the practice helps release stagnant or excess energy, clear stored emotions, and replenish Qi (vital energy). This gentle yet powerful method supports the body’s natural ability to balance itself, nurturing physical health, emotional well-being, and overall vitality.

Below are the six healing sounds of Qigong, a practice rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). They are meant to be paired with a set of Qigong movements as well as healing light energy to both detoxify and strengthen each internal organ.

Sounds

Expressing these sounds will help you purge emotion from each organ (& its paired organ). Using your breath, naturally inhale through your nose into your belly, and then exhale through your mouth with the sound.

  • LUNGS & Large Intestine = “SSSSSS” → releases grief & sadness
  • KIDNEY & Bladder = “CHOOOO” → releases fear
  • LIVER & Gall Bladder = “SHOOOO” → purges anger
  • HEART & Small Intestine = “HAWWWW’ → cleanses hate
  • SPLEEN & Stomach = “WHOOOO” → removes worry & anxiety
  • TRIPLE WARMER (a meridian in TCM that regulates 3 main regions and is associated with the heart, lungs, liver, spleen, stomach, kidneys, bladder, and reproductive organs) = “SHHEEE” → general overall balance

Movements

Below are a few videos to guide you on the associated movement for each healing sound (keep in mind, there are many ways to practice this!):

Healing light energy

After completing the associated sound & movement, rest your hands over the area of the body where the organ lies to guide healing light energy to it.

  • LUNG = white light → brings courage
  • KIDNEY = blue/black light → welcomes gratitude
  • LIVER = green light → instill kindness
  • HEART = red light →  brings love
  • SPLEEN = yellow light → invites trust.
  • TRIPLE WARMER = purple or clear light → brings peace

Even if you cannot do or opt out of the movements, you may still feel the benefits of vocalizing the sounds with your exhale and resting your hands over the organ’s area with the intention of releasing and healing.
